INITIAL DEPLOYMENT  SUCCESS- UPRR

  • Project Implementation of Oracle P6 8.4 and Integrated Program Controls for $2.9 BB Program over 5 years with 1K FTEs, vendors, and consultants.

  • Master Program Schedule Developed for all Departments (IT, Signals, Mechanical, and external dependencies)

  • All Projects and activities funded are required to be part of the project controls process. Initial Baselines (36+ Projects) for IT entered and accounted for.

DEVELOPMENT SUCCESS - ADOPTION FAILURE:

  • Schedules, Budgets, other Project Controls Process were not being updated.

UNION PACIFIC-  ADOPTION SUCCESS

  • Establish Communication from Intranet enterprise down to program management weekly team meetings.

  • Identified PoC candidates and established a successful implementation of P6 and Project Controls Methodology transforming biggest resistors into a champion of the implementation.

  • Developed and executed training and coaching of Program Managers, Project Managers, Schedulers and key planning team members through 1:1 Coaching, Training Sessions, and Online Training.

  • Established a Center of Excellence, Data Governance Board, and key Artifacts to develop reliance and stability of Project Controls Methodology and P6/ SAP . 

  • Supported and Developed key Coordination Meetings and Communication with Sr. Executives of all departments garnering full support of P6 as the system of record and budged allocation.

PG&E PROJECT CONTROLS IMPLEMENTATION:

  • Developed key relationships with Northern Californian Project Managers (14) and Project Analysts (8) through a series of 1:1 Coaching sessions that empowered and enabled key stakeholders.

  • Established reliable project cost, resource, and timeline of the Electric Distribution Portfolio that enabled sustained P6 usage and Process Controls Best Practices Adoption.

  • Completed first version of Project Controls with assistance of PM Supervisors, Executive Regional Managers, Project Analysts, and Project Managers both Union or Employees.

  • Garnered middle management support of project controls and P6 by developing key KPI Metrics and Reports that empowered Directors and Executive Managers to make decisions to allocate adequate resources for implementation of project per set year.
